Tell us a bit about the band. Where are you from and how did you all meet?
We are Crystal Tides! We come from the south coast. Initially me and the guitarist Harry met at university in Brighton. We would spend our breaks writing songs together and then from there we introduced the others and the band came together really nicely. We write and play indie/rock/pop music.
If you had to sum up your style in three words, what would you say?
Catchy, Energetic, Summery
You recently released your latest single, Monday. What does this song mean to you?
We wrote this one when we was all talking about how we still are doing the things we used to when we were younger and go drinking when we shouldn’t but now we have got the realities of work on Monday hanging over us! Wanting to be full time in the band and spend time out with pals but we can’t always cause of work on Monday!
Is this a hint at more new music on the way?
There is definitely more. During the lockdown period we’ve nearly written two albums worth!!
Who produced this? Have you worked with them before? How was it working with them?
David Evans. He is brilliant. We have a really good relationship and we all understand eachother really well. He has worked with us on all of our releases.
Before lockdown, did you play many shows? How were they?
Yes loads! We actually toured around the country in January. We did a huge show supporting ‘The Sherlocks’ in March and it’s safe to say was one of our best shows to date!

What are some of your favourite stories from these shows?
Just the time spent with band – we all seem to have this odd sense of humour which I can imagine as an outsider looking in probably makes us look like weirdos!
Any plans to get back out on the road once lockdown is over?
Yes for sure. Trying to arrange another tour now but gigs seem very uncertain at the moment!
What would you say to someone who wants to start making music?
Go for it! Write about things you care about and do what makes you happy!

I would like to thank Billy for taking the time to answer my questions and I hope to catch them at a show as soon as we can!
